Position Summary

The Auxiliary Coach plays a vital role in supporting the Head Coach and contributing to the success of the program, particularly focused on goal keep coaching. This position is at the heart of the team’s day-to-day operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly while upholding the highest standards of NCAA, Conference, and University guidelines. The Auxiliary Coach may also have the exciting opportunity to serve as the Recruiting Coordinator, helping shape the future of the team by attracting top talent. Additionally, this role may include mentoring and overseeing student managers, providing them with valuable leadership experience. Essential Functions


  • Assist with practice planning, scouting, team activities, and individual coaching.
  • Support the recruitment of student-athletes under the direction of the head coach.
  • Ensure player wellness and maintain a positive team culture, focusing on the well-being of student-athletes both on and off the field.
  • Hire and manage team managers, as well as supervise assistant coaches when necessary.
  • Input compliance information into ACS and keep all necessary documentation current.
  • Organize and coordinate team travel arrangements.
  • Promote academic success by encouraging discipline and accountability.
  • Arrange tutoring services and communicate with faculty about missed classes.
  • Send recruitment information to Admissions for all prospective student-athletes.
  • Manage team schedules, including practices, games, classes, player development, and weight training.
  • Serve as facility liaison, reserving fields and meeting rooms for team activities.
  • Coordinate with training staff to align schedules for medical and rehabilitation needs.
  • Facilitate equipment ordering and management in collaboration with the head coach.
  • Conduct individual and small-group film sessions to support player development.
  • Assist in organizing alumni events and fundraising efforts.
  • Hold bi-weekly academic meetings with players to monitor progress.
  • Monitor weekly class attendance and follow up as needed.
  • May serve as Recruiting Coordinator at the direction of the head coach.
  • Complete all other assignments as directed by the head coach.
  • Be available for evening, weekend hours, and overnight travel as required.

  • Valid driver's license


Preferred: 

  • Degree educated
  • Previous coaching experience


Environmental Conditions:


  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
  • Indoor and outdoor work environments.

Physical Demands:


  • Candidates must be physically and mentally capable of performing the essential duties of the position without posing a risk to themselves or others.
  • Ability to lift moderate-to-heavy loads (up to 50 pounds), such as goalkeeper equipment and training gear.
  • Ability to stand, walk, run, jump, bend, kneel, and reach during on-field coaching and training sessions.
  • Physical dexterity to demonstrate techniques and maneuvers, as well as operate training equipment.
  • Visual acuity and depth perception for monitoring player movements, tracking balls, and analyzing game footage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, staff, and community members both in-person and over the phone.
  • Ability to observe and analyze player performance through both visual (field and video) and verbal cues.
  • Must be able to read and interpret training plans, performance reports, and related documents.

University Information

$16.50 to $20.00 per hour is the annual starting wage for this role and reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, FPU offers a competitive benefits package.
