Description
Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine, the Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting with the prevention, recognition, evaluation, rehabilitation and recovery from injuries and illnesses to student-athletes. Hofstra University sponsors 21 competitive sports and approximately 350 student-athletes. All staff members are responsible for complying with the policies and procedures set forth by Hofstra University, the Coastal Athletic Association, the NCAA and the job requirements specific to the particular assignments inherent to athletic administration.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Helps student-athletes prevent, recognize, evaluate, rehabilitate and recover from injuries and illnesses.
  • Maintains illness and treatment records, insurance correspondence, and communication with team physicians and the University Wellness Center.
  • Supervises athletic training students enrolled in the accredited athletic training education curriculum.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • NATABOC Certification, New York State License or eligible, CPR and AED Certification.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of related work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • This position requires working weekends and holidays and attending athletic events as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Athletic Training preferred.

Salary/Salary Range $56,000 - $58,656

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
