This is an Internal Employment OpportunityThe Athletics Department is seeking a salaried Academic Wage: Assistant Sports Performance Center Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term position. This position is anticipated to last approximately 6 months. The mission of the OSU Department of Athletics is to Go Build Excellent, Authentic, Visionary Student-Athletes (GO B.E.A.V.S.). The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach assists in the organization, administration, and promotion of all aspects of the Oregon State Strength and Conditioning (Athlete Development) Program. This position specifically designs, maintains, supervises, and evaluates the Strength and Conditioning Program for assigned sport(s) and each specialized position the sports afford. Please note: This position will not be the strength and conditioning coach for Football, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Basketball or Baseball. Coaching includes instruction and athletic supervision of the athletes, program management for the specific area assigned and preparation of recommendations to the Head Coach/Director and Director of Athletics. The Assistant Coach will adhere to the policies set forth by direct supervisors, Head Coach/Director, and Athletic Director, as well as Oregon State University, the PAC-12 Conference and The National Collegiate Athletic Association

55% COACHING / INSTRUCTIONProvides consultation and expert advice to Head Coach and team members regarding the progress of each student athlete relative to their specific position for assigned sport(s). Prepares, plans, conducts, and evaluates practice sessions, as directed. Teaches individuals and groups of players specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off-season. Teaches progressions and drills during daily practice time. Is available to coaches and players before, during and after practices. 20% TEAM ADMINISTRATIONPlans long and short-term strength and conditioning objectives for the team under the leadership of the Head Coach. Establishes strength and conditioning training requirements and regiments for members of the team. 15% SUPERVISIONProvides leadership, supervision, and direction for assigned students. Plans, assigns, and reviews work. Establishes goals for each position and assesses performance through completion of evaluations. Provides mentorship for students and develops plans that improve skill set and competency. 5% RECRUITMENTPrepares and distributes recruiting information. Participates in campus visits with prospective student-athletes and their parents. Works with populations which include minors under the age of 18. 5% CAMPUS & COMMUNITY COMMUNICATIONInteracts with various campus offices, departments, as well as individual faculty and staff members. Serves as guest speaker at public events on behalf of OSU Athletics.
Bachelor’s degree and experience in specified athletic program. Experience with proper instruction and progression of Olympic lifts. Coaching experience at an NCAA Division I institution (strength and conditioning) or similar (volunteer and student experience will qualify). Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Some evening, weekend, and early morning work is required. The employee in this position will often be required to lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing 200 pounds. Access to expensive equipment. Will be involved in coordination of a Youth Program (camp) and may have one-on-one access to youth under the age of 18. May have access to personal and medical information.
