Job Description

Position Summary The Administrative Support Coordinator I will perform duties independently under general supervision under the direction of the Administrative Support Coordinator II Lead and will provide essential frontline administrative support, maintaining continuity and stability in the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences office.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to organize, direct, and prioritize multiple duties and tasks in a dynamic working environment.  This position will be responsible for travel arrangements, processing reimbursements, processing and tracking of graduate applications for the master’s in athletic training and program clerical support. Additional responsibilities include the development of newsletters, web pages, and social media to communicate policies, procedures, and accomplishments in the School of ENS. This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary The School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences is one of the largest academic departments/schools at San Diego State University with over 2,200 students. The School offers B.S. degrees in Kinesiology (with emphasis areas in Pre-Physical Therapy, Fitness Specialist, and Exercise Science Generalist), and Foods and Nutrition; M.S. degrees in Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training, Nutritional Sciences, and concurrent M.S. degrees in Exercise Physiology and Nutritional Sciences; and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. The College of Health and Human Services is dedicated to preparing students to address the health and human service challenges of the 21st century. Education and Experience Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite. These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience

Key Qualifications Experience in Social Media formats. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Strong accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with my.SDSU, PeopleSoft, and Adobe is preferred. Experience in Front Line Administrative Support. Experience working in an academic setting.
