Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Events and Facilities Operations

Position Summary

Southern Utah University invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Events and Facilities Operations. This leadership role is pivotal in overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of athletic events, as well as managing and maintaining athletic facilities. Essential Functions

• Manage daily operations of SUU's athletic facilities, including scheduling, maintenance coordination, and liaison with the university facility management department.

• Plan, organize, and oversee all home athletic events, ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations.

• Collaborate with campus departments, external vendors, and event staff to coordinate logistics, security, and emergency preparedness for events.

• Supervise and mentor event and facility staff, including interns, student workers, and part-time employees.

• Develop and manage budgets related to events and facilities, including procurement and resource allocation, to ensure effective financial management.

• Assist in long-term planning and execution of capital projects for facility improvements.

• Implement best practices for crowd management, fan engagement, and overall event experience.

Education & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in athletic facilities and event management, preferably in a collegiate setting.

• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

• Proficiency in event management software and facility scheduling tools.

• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field.

• Experience with capital project planning or facility renovations.

• CPR/First Aid certification.

• Familiarity with the unique operational considerations of Southern Utah's climate and environment.
