Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for Intercollegiate Athletics. This position is a full-time position and reports directly to the Director of Sports Performance with a dotted line to the Deputy Athletic Director and assists with the coordination, organization and direction of the Strength & Conditioning Program and weight room operations at Florida A&M University in upholding policies, guidelines and procedures as it relates to all rules and regulations of the University Board of Trustees, NCAA and conference. Must have the values of being a role model for students and positive influence in the community; Must perform job responsibilities in accordance with NCAA and Title IX rules and regulations; Must be personable, understanding and project a professional image with excellent leadership & communication skills, to include awareness of social media etiquette and the inclusion of all student-athletes; Assists in the development and implementation of strength & conditioning for all aspects of Olympic Sports programs, to include cross-country, track & field, volleyball, women's bowling, softball, baseball, men's golf and women's tennis; Programs result in improved student-athletes' athletic performance, including but not limited to, the areas of strength, power, speed, agility, flexibility and conditioning; Maintains individual records showing performance & improvements for each student-athlete; Performs appropriate testing to determine the needs of the specific student-athlete; Assists with program development; Directly responsible for the scheduling & maintenance of the athletic weight training facilities, daily admin. requirements including communication with coaches to certify that the goals of both sides are met; Reports any/all injuries incurred while training to the Head Athletic Trainer & appropriate team coach; Assists the sports medicine staff with functional rehabilitation when appropriate; Attesting that weight room operations are efficient & organized and the weight room is kept clean and neat; Performs other duties as assigned by the Deputy Athletic Director; Exhibits willingness to undertake additional tasks; Asks questions & gathers information as necessary; Develops a personal continuing plan & maintains certifications; Oversees the development of volunteer assistants & interns; and performs job with a commitment to institutional customer service expectations.

Apply NowBachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and one year of related experience coaching at the high school level or above. Must possess the National Athletic Trainers Association Certificate. Successful experience as a graduate assistant or intern in an athletic program is acceptable for up to one year of the required experience.
Knowledge of peroidization;
Knowledge and use of scientific-based programming;
Knowledge of speed development, agility, flexibility, plyometrics, conditioning, nutrition and recovery;
Knowledge and ability to teach and conduct lifting techniques of Olympic-style lifts;
Knowledge of proper return-to-play progressions and exercises;
Ability to communicate with Head Coaches, Athletic Trainers and Medical Staff;
Ability to lead and conduct workouts with 20+ student-athletes;
Ability to properly conduct exercise testing assessments;
Ability and flexibility to work directly with coaches to develop programs suitable to the student-athletes and team needs;
Ability to be understanding of student-athletes in a multi-cultural environment;
Ability to travel as requested by the coaches;
Leadership skills to oversee student-athletes and assistant coaches, graduate assistants and student interns;
Strong Excel skills;
Energetic, motivated and focused;
Strong communication skills;
First Aid, CPR/AED certified; and
NSCA-Certified Strength & Conditioning and/or CSCC-Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified.
Master's degree is preferred.

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.
