ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Assistant Athletic Director provides leadership for the annual fund for UWGB athletics (Phoenix Fund) and is the primary liaison and coordinator for athletics special events. The Assistant AD builds relationships, solicits and secures gifts and pledges, and provides regular stewardship of donors and their gifts. The Assistant AD coordinates all applicable mailings and communication strategies for annual giving and donor relations for the athletics department.  

This position includes the following responsibilities:

• Oversee annual Phoenix Fund Drive and all relevant communication/materials. Responsible for all communication including letters, reports and follow-ups.
• Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit donors for gifts and sponsorships to phoenix athletics. 
• In consultation with the Deputy AD and AD,  develop and actively manage a portfolio of donors and prospects for annual gifts and sponsorships for special events, and partnerships. Meet in person with these alumni, friends, businesses and foundations, and communicate with them regularly throughout the year.
• Responsible for coordination, logistics, and planning for annual Phoenix-Packers Steak Fry, the largest annual fundraising event for Phoenix Athletics, and assist with other special events including basketball golf outings. Coordinate fulfillment of donor pledges for all special events in timely manner. 
• Coordinate premium club areas for assigned athletic events and assist with various game operations as needed for athletic events. 
• Assist in the public recognition and stewardship of donors. Promptly write thank-you notes and letters to assigned donors who make new gifts and pledges.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to learn about new trends, new techniques, and new ideas for being a highly productive and effective development officer.
• Carry out other duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree at time of application
• 2 years of experience in fundraising and/or recruitment, sales, marketing, etc.
• Possession of a valid driver¿s license upon employment

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to help develop and write effective proposals and present them to donors and prospects
• Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with donors, University Advancement colleagues, and University faculty and staff members
• Ability to make cold calls and other introductory contacts to get appointments with donors and prospects
• Ability to understand and work within budgetary restrictions

SPECIAL NOTES:

 

This position may be required to work nights, weekends and some travel as needed. 

The home campus of this position is Green Bay and the successful candidate may occasionally be required to travel to or work at the Marinette, Sheboygan or Manitowoc Campus, based on operational needs. 

Position is a full-time Academic Staff appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s) and if there is prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct. SALARY INFORMATION

Minimum salary of $51,563. 

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

BENEFIT DETAILS

UW System provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees.  This includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. Our benefits package also includes dental, vision, several life insurance options, AD&D and Accident insurance and Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts.  We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service.  The UW System also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation.

In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%.  This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually.  Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
