Reporting to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs is responsible for managing day-to-day operations and generating revenue through corporate partnerships, ticket sales, marketing, fundraising, and Name, Image and Likeness (
NIL
) opportunities.
Cultivates and maintains relationships with local, regional and national partners to increase visibility and awareness of Winthrop Athletics and meet sales and marketing goals.
Maintains accurate records of sales and marketing calls/visits and related travel expenses and submits requests for reimbursement in a timely fashion and in accordance with applicable university and division policies and procedures.
Executes corporate sponsorship contracts.
Coordinates the integration of sponsorship elements into game production and promotions to ensure fulfillment and sponsor satisfaction.
Develops strategies in collaboration with other members of the Athletics staff to increase revenue, strengthen brand presence and enhance the fan experience.
Works collaboratively with University Advancement staff to solicit annual fund-level gifts and supports fundraising events and initiatives.
Provides Eagle Club oversight related to managing donors, setting goals and objectives, and seeking new opportunities, including planning, organizing and executing new events.
Serves as liaison between the Athletics marketing and revenue generation teams to maximize the fan and donor experience and drive revenue.
Implements advertising plans to increase awareness for all sports through print and electronic media, outdoor advertising, web content, community partners and social media.
Bachelor’s degree.
At least three years of professional experience in sales and/or marketing.
Master’s degree.
Relevant professional experience in intercollegiate athletics or amateur or professional sports.
Working knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or similar software.
Exceptional organizational, customer service, and oral and written communication skills.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in working with confidential information.
Ability to effectively coordinate a variety of concurrent responsibilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with university employees, donors, corporate partners and the general public.
Ability to work successfully in a diverse, fast-paced environment.
Occasional after-hours and weekend work.
