Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations is directly responsible for management and operation of all facilities and day-to-day event operations of the Department of Athletics. Coordinates and supervises all staff involved in day-to-day operations and management and administration of facilities. This position is a member of the Athletic Department senior staff and works independently and receives minimal supervision. Over 60 full and part-time people supervised directly or indirectly. Responsible for budget impacted by this position including operations, salaries, equipment, and revenues generation through arena rentals, event revenue (gate, concessions), etc. Position is responsible for over of 300 events each year, ranging from small meetings to major shows/concerts and University graduations. The position is also the department’s liaison for capital projects in addition to having sport supervision duties, as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Manage the Department’s scheduling of all facilities, the Sports Center and all of its auxiliary operations, including establishing policies, daily maintenance, supervision of personnel, cost analysis and the functions of the Sports Center involving scheduling to ensure that the Sports Center runs smoothly.
Create efficient management procedures to provide maximization of facility usage and program enhancement by wide range of constituencies.
Advise and consult as a senior administrator of the Athletic Department to provide support in interpreting policies and procedures, planning of department functions, scheduling major events, team practices, and a wide range of other logistical needs.
Schedule all events of the Department taking place at the University, including practices and games.
Manage operations of all athletic contests conducted at the University to provide for efficient operation of all athletic contests, maximizing smooth conduct of all games for contestants, officials and fans.
Coordination and supervision of wide range of areas, including ticket operations, equipment, event logistics and part-time or Work Study facility staff.
Conduct preliminary negotiations on contracts with external parties regarding use of the Sports Center and all varsity athletic fields and intramural facilities to obtain acceptable terms for both parties involved.
Exercise considerable judgment and acute analysis of event market trends and sports facility utilization.
Hires, on-boards, trains and monitors work of staff.
Manages employee performance including providing timely and appropriate feedback or coaching and seeks opportunities for employee professional and career development.
Responsible for sports supervision duties, as assigned.
Serves as the department’s liaison for all capital projects.

Required Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Administration, Facility Management or related field and experience that demonstrates necessary skills is required.
A minimum of three-five years experience in collegiate athletic administration.
Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. is required.
