Job Summary/Basic Function
The Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations & Compliance is responsible for the oversight and administration of the department’s NCAA compliance program and internal athletic operations. This position ensures institutional control and adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations while supporting the daily operational needs of the athletics department. The role provides leadership in policy development, rules education, eligibility certification, and internal operational coordination.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in NCAA athletics administration or compliance.
Strong knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, preferably at the Division II level.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
Experience working with compliance software (e.g., ARMS, Teamworks, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in NCAA Division II athletics.
Experience supervising staff or graduate assistants.
Knowledge of Title IX and student-athlete eligibility processes.

Job Duties
| Description of Job Duties | NCAA Compliance Administration
Serve as the primary administrator for NCAA and conference compliance within the athletics department.
Monitor and ensure compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program that promotes institutional control and ethical conduct.
Provide rules education to coaches, student-athletes, staff, boosters, and campus partners.
Review and approve recruiting activities, official and unofficial visits, and related documentation.
Oversee monitoring systems for recruiting, playing and practice seasons, and countable athletically related activities (CARA).
Coordinate eligibility certification processes in collaboration with the Registrar and Faculty Athletics Representative.
Manage compliance software and maintain required NCAA documentation and reports.
Investigate and report potential rules violations and coordinate corrective actions when necessary.
Internal Operations
Assist in overseeing the day-to-day internal operations of the athletics department.
Coordinate departmental scheduling, internal processes, and administrative workflows.
Support the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
Assist with strategic planning initiatives and operational assessments.
Serve as a liaison between athletics and campus departments such as Financial Aid, Admissions, Registrar, and Student Affairs.
Student-Athlete Support
Oversee student-athlete eligibility certification and continuing eligibility monitoring.
Assist with compliance-related aspects of financial aid for student-athletes.
Support student-athlete welfare initiatives and institutional programming.
Game Operations & Event Management
Assist with oversight of home athletics event operations.
Coordinate operational logistics with facilities, game management staff, and external vendors as needed.
Ensure compliance with NCAA and conference competition regulations.
Supervision & Leadership
Supervise assigned administrative staff, interns, or graduate assistants.
Provide leadership and guidance to coaches and staff regarding NCAA rules and operational procedures.
Represent the athletics department on institutional committees as assigned.
Other Duties
Assist the Director of Athletics with special projects and departmental initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and success of the athletics department.
