| Job Description Summary |
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications and Digital Media is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies to promote Lewis University’s athletic programs. This role involves managing media relations, overseeing digital content, and enhancing the visibility of the university’s athletic achievements while upholding the institution’s Catholic and Lasallian values. The Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications and Digital Media also works in conjunction with the Lewis University Marketing/Communications office and provides articles for University publications and coordination of major athletic news and events.

| Responsibilities |
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University’s Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Oversee all aspects of the Athletic Communications Department • Responsible for budget management. • Manage and mentor communications staff, including interns and student workers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
-Multimedia: Oversee the creation and distribution of digital content across various platforms, including the athletics website and social media channels, to engage fans and stakeholders. Design content for website and social media channels. Produce content for social media websites such as Instagram, X, Facebook and TikTok. • Organize and maintain photo archive.
-Media Relations: Serve as the primary contact for media inquiries related to athletics. • Coordinate media interviews. • Produce statistics and game programs. • Write and edit press releases and other promotional materials that highlight the achievements of student-athletes, coaches and teams. • Serve as media host for meet and greets, press conferences, media days and NCAA/GLVC events on campus. • Coordinate coverage of home and away games, including live statistics, photography, interviews and post-game reports. • Oversee and coordinate live broadcasts and commentary for athletic events, ensuring high-quality production and compliance with conference and NCAA standards.
-Publication/Promotion: Maintain accurate records and statistics for all athletic events, ensuring timely reporting to the Great Lakes Valley Conference and the NCAA. • Manage and make recommendations for in-season and post-season awards. • Work closely with university marketing and communications teams to align communication strategies with broader departmental goals. • Ensure all communications adhere to NCAA regulations and university policies. • Create programs for special athletics events including the Flyer Red Dinner and The Delahanty Awards.
-Other duties as needed in the athletic department

| Minimum Qualifications |
-Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in sports information, communications or public relations is required
Must be able to work with flexible work schedules involving evening, weekend and holiday athletic event/sports coverage.
Previous supervisory experience.
-Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, Spark, etc.), website content management systems, social media platforms and Statcrew/NCAA Live Stats is preferred.
-Experience in photography, recording and editing video is desired.. Excellent communication and organizational skills are also required. Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance is required. Position requires considerable initiative, creativity and independence | | Preferred Qualifications |
