Job Summary

 

This position reports to the Senior Associate AD for Brand Advancement and oversees the department's strategic and brand communication efforts while leveraging current, and developing new, communication assets to enhance Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) and revenue opportunities in the post-House Settlement era of college athletics. This leadership position is responsible for expanding the department's visibility, storytelling and fan engagement through innovative communication strategies, content creation and cohesive brand management across multimedia platforms.

  • Develops and executes a comprehensive integrated communications plan; markets, publicizes and promotes FIU Athletics through wide-ranging channels and methods.
  • Serves as the primary communications contact for football and other sports as assigned, handling all media requests, gameday duties, document creation (game notes, record books, programs, etc.) and roster and statistical management; is the primary liaison with conference and NCAA media relations offices.
  • Oversees the department's website (FIUSports.com) and mobile app (scheduled to launch in August of 2025), ensuring all information is accurate and timely; work in conjunction with MMR partner Van Wagner to execute current, and develop future, digital opportunities to increase revenue; utilize website and app analytics and data metrics to provide recommendations which yield more engagement and ROI.
  • Provides support for media, television, radio, and streaming broadcasts of games and events, including but not limited to interview requests, research, data distribution and dissemination of noteworthy information which enhances the profiles of student-athletes, coaches, team and staff; develops and enhances relationships with key stakeholders and media outlets.
  • Executes the department's social media strategy, working in conjunction with the creative team to manage content plans, with a focus on visual storytelling, brand growth and expansion of digital revenue assets; work jointly with the creative content team to optimize and grow media days.
