To be eligible for most benefits, you must be a permanent, full-time employee (including temporary, full-time faculty with at least an academic year contract) or a permanent, part-time employee (including temporary, part-time faculty with at least an academic year contract) who is scheduled to work every pay period for at least 50% of full-time hours.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer, as a non-instructional faculty member, will be a dedicated individual to be a part of a team who will provide strong leadership, and a high level of service and care to student-athletes. Each faculty member must carry current certifications and understanding of
NATA
&
NCAA
guidelines concerning the health and welfare of student-athletes.
This is a 10-month temporary position for Commonwealth University – Lock Haven, an
NCAA
Division II institution with multiple campus-based sports programs (some at the
NCAA
Division I level).
Recognize, care for, and rehabilitate injuries adhering to
HIPAA
and
FERPA
while communicating with coaches and administrators.
Diagnose and supervise care of injuries with appropriate follow-up with team physicians, when necessary. Coordinate schedules for team doctors and ambulance coverage (as necessary).
Design rehabilitative programs for student-athletes* and those who report within athletics.
Shared responsibility for athletic training room including budgeting, staff development,

rules knowledge and drug testing experience.
Follow
NCAA
and conference guidelines for medical waivers and medical redshirt processes through appropriate record keeping and paperwork collection (i.e.,
HIPAA
forms, insurance affidavits, physical clearances, medical hardship waivers, sickle cell and injury reports. Ensure secure storage, confidentiality, and appropriate disposal of these records consistent with all applicable laws and practices).
This position may serve as the
NCAA
Athletics Health Care Administrator (
AHCA
).
Oversee concussion education and requirements related to
NCAA
, conference, and Commonwealth standards.
Manage the Athletic Training supplies budget. Initiate all purchase orders for athletic training supplies, stock all items received, and maintain an accurate inventory.
Maintain procedures for the general maintenance, calibration, and safety inspection of all training rooms, facilities, and equipment.
Record-keeping; provide practice/game coverage, as well as camp/clinic/tournament activities during the academic year and over the summer
Design and implementation of athletic health care education.
The position may require modest travel (campus-based decision).
Non-traditional and evening hours are primary and required, with staff rotations.
Other duties as assigned.

Prior experience working with a diverse population of student-athletes required
Experience and familiarity with accident insurance claims, working with contact sports, and an ability and understanding of sport injuries within a variety of male and female sports.
Preferred Qualifications:
Working with insurance billing software.
Three years of collegiate certified athletic training experience.

High level of service and care to students, including but not limited to physician and specialist referrals.

Basic math skills and reading skills including understanding written documents
Writing skills in preparing and organizing documents
Sensory skills, i.e. visual, hearing, and speaking
Keyboard skills
Ability to perform orthopedic and concussion testing with necessary skills
Physical dexterity to perform
CPR
& to immobilize injured student-athlete on spineboard
