Division II institution (with select Division I programs), invites applications for a
10-month, tenure-track Assistant Athletic Trainer
position. This
non-instructional faculty role
is designed for a dedicated, compassionate, and team-oriented healthcare professional committed to delivering exceptional care to student-athletes.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and service-driven Sports Medicine team and be instrumental in supporting the health and well-being of a diverse population of student-athletes, while also contributing to the academic mission through clinical education and mentorship.
Evaluate injuries and illnesses, refer to team physicians as needed, and coordinate follow-up care and scheduling
Design and supervise individualized rehabilitation programs to promote safe return to activity, ensuring compliance with
HIPAA
,
FERPA
, and best practices in sports medicine.
Maintain communication with coaches, administrators, and health professionals regarding athlete care.
Develop and implement health education and injury prevention strategies for student-athletes, including cheerleading, aligned with
NCAA
, conference, and Commonwealth standards.
Manage athletic training facilities and equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance, including budgeting, inventory control, and vendor coordination.
Monitor and oversee concussion education and protocol adherence.
Manage medical documentation, including waivers, clearances, and reports
Support overall operations of the athletic training department
The position may require modest travel.
Non-traditional and evening hours are primary and required, with staff rotations.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience and Education (Minimum/Preferred)
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field
Current
BOC
Certification
Pennsylvania Athletic Trainer License (or eligibility to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified athletic training experience
Familiarity with
NCAA
rules and regulations
Experience with football and wrestling
Proficiency in accident insurance claims and insurance billing software
Exposure to mental health screening practices
Essential Functions:
Sitting: 30% | Walking: 50% | Standing: 20%
Indoor and Outdoor work: 50% each
Frequent lifting of items under 5 lbs; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
Requires reaching, twisting, stretching, and visual/manual dexterity
Ability to perform orthopedic assessments and concussion protocols
Must be physically capable of performing
CPR
and spine boarding procedures

Finalist(s) for this position must communicate well and successfully complete an interview process. Recommendation for hiring is needed for a majority of the regular, full-time department faculty. Completing this search is contingent upon student enrollment and available funding.
