Fairmont State University is seeking two highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Assistant Athletic Trainers. The Assistant Athletic Trainer, a direct report to the Associate A.D. for Sports Medicine – Head Athletic Trainer, is responsible for assisting with the prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses, evaluation of athletic injuries, treatment of athletic injuries, providing education and counseling to student-athletes about their injury/illness, maintaining appropriate documentation and record keeping, handling all insurance claims, and effectively communicating with physicians and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student-athletes. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the day to day operations of all athletic facilities and assisting in game day operations for various sports.
Duties:
In concert with the Associate A.D. for Sports Medicine – Head Athletic Trainer, assists in developing and implementing an overall sports medicine program for the athletic department, including: injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, and educational programs for student-athletes.
Provides athletic training services for the University’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary.
Assists with the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room as well as manages athletic training administrative duties.
Assists with the purchases of all athletic training equipment and supplies.
Assists with event and practice coverage, providing daily instruction and specific work assignments relating to pre-practice, practice, post-practice and athletic team competition needs for assigned sports.
Works closely with coaches to coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete.
Serves as liaison between the department and the medical community and works closely with a network of physicians to ensure the highest level of care for student athletes.
Assists with maintaining appropriate documentation, record keeping, and assists in handling all insurance claims.
Adheres to and ensures compliance with all University, Conference and
NCAA
rules, regulations and policies.
Attends selected and assigned other athletic team contests.
Performs related duties as assigned by Associate A.D. for Sports Medicine – Head Athletic Trainer or other University authority.
Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field
Candidate must be
NATA
/
BOC
certified.
CPR
/
AED
certification is required. Also, candidate must be eligible for West Virginia Athletic Training Licensure.
A minimum of one (1) year of professional work experience.
