Duties and Responsibilities
All staff members have a duty to cooperate with and furnish the NCAA, the conference office or the institution with truthful and complete information concerning involvement in or knowledge of rules violations. A staff member may be suspended or terminated if found to be involved in deliberate and serious violations of NCAA of CIAA regulations. Assist the AT with the development of programs for the care, prevention treatment and rehabilitation of injuries to student-athletes. Game and practice coverage (emergency care) as necessary. Inventory/ stocking and control of all athletic training equipment. Work with the AT for care and supervision of the athletic training room and all equipment therein (i.e. golf cart, ice machine, electronic modalities, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred. NATA/BOC certification preferred. Maryland License in athletic training preferred. CPR certified preferred.
Experience
3-5 years’ experience in an intercollegiate athletic training environment preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible to support the Head Athletic Trainer (AT) with all phases of the athletic training program within the department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation. This includes the prevention, care and treatment of athletic injuries; administrative functions, budget and supervision of student athletic trainers, graduate assistants and student workers.
Conditions of Employment
Some overnight and weekends required. Travel is required.Please be advised, COVID-19 vaccinations are not required but encouraged for faculty and staff to be employed at Bowie State University. This protocol is subject to change.
