Principal Responsibilities
Treats and rehabilitates athletes to return them to full activity levels.
Conducts pre-season screening and conditioning to prevent injuries during competitions
Administers first aid and emergency techniques; applies tape, bandages, braces and padding to injuries.
Recommends new or modified care treatment; documents treatments, referrals and injury reports.
Determines methods for educating both athletes and coaching staff on proper training techniques and modalities.
In conjunction with the team physician, determines when an athlete has completed a rehabilitation program and can resume an appropriate level of activity.
Assists team physician during clinical hours.
Travels with and/or oversees assigned varsity sports teams.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or a related field and two years of experience as an athletic trainer at the collegiate level or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required License(s) or Certification(s)
Current certification and in good standing with the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)

Health Requirements
This role is a healthcare worker position. Healthcare workers (HCW) are defined as university employees working a healthcare setting who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients, human research subjects or infectious materials including body substance, contaminated medical supplies, devices and equipment, surfaces, or air. HCW have specific health requirements that must be met prior to starting work, including MMR vaccine or immunity, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine or immunity, TB screening, COVID vaccine according to University policy, hepatitis B vaccine or immunity, and annual flu vaccination.
