Job Description:
Under administrative direction, responsible for assisting in the operation of the Intercollegiate training and rehabilitation facilities and the training of all student-athletes, including aiding medical personnel with the prevention and treatment of athletically related injuries to student-athletes. Reports to the Associate Head Athletic Trainer. Adheres to NCAA and Big 12 rules and regulations, as well as to the policies of the department, the University, and the AZ Board of Regents.
We are filling three full-time positions: Two dedicated to supporting our Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross-Country teams , and one dedicated to supporting our Women's Gymnastics team. Currently hiring for the following shift: Monday – Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Essential Duties:
Assists with the operations of the training and rehabilitation room facilities.
Assists with the daily treatment and rehabilitation of student athletes.
Assists with supervision and evaluation of Athletic Training Students.
Attends scheduled team practices and competitions, including all home events for sports as assigned by the head athletic trainer.
Travels with teams as assigned by the head athletic trainer.
Confers with the Team Physician to ensure proper evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured student athletes.
Follows the NATA Code of Ethics. Remains current on all state and national requirements for license renewal.
Performs other duties and special projects as requested and assigned by Head Athletic Trainer and Team Physician.
Knowledge of athletic training procedures, practices, and techniques.
Knowledge of good management and sports team supervisory policies and procedures.
Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Desired Qualifications:
Evidence of a Master's Degree in a related field.
Two (2) years' experience working with a D1 athletics program, which includes one (1) year of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer REQUIRED.
Experience providing prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured student athletes in the sport of Men’s or Women’s Cross Country and/or Track and Field.
NATA certification and CPR certification are required. Must be a licensee in good standing with the Arizona Board of Athletic Training, within 120 days of hire.
Experience with advanced manual therapy techniques such as Graston, ASTYM, MFD, or ART.
Experience with supervision of other professionals.
Evidence of effective communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of athletic training procedures, practices and techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of good management and sport team supervisory policies and procedures.
Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Experience in stimulating changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment.
Experience in leading by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution's sustainability programs.
Working Environment:
Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
Work collaboratively across various departments within the University as well as with diverse populations and groups.
Use computers effectively – including inputting, reviewing, and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing the screen, and using the mouse and keyboard.
Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze data.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Walk throughout campus for meetings or events, regardless of the weather.
Work collaboratively to achieve objectives.
Climb stairs in locations with no elevator, such as the mezzanine level of the MU, or Irish Hall.
Ability to lift 35 lbs.
