Summary of Job Duties: The Assistant Athletic Trainer will serve in the department of Athletics and assist in the daily operations of the athletic training room. This position will be responsible for providing healthcare to student-athletes to include the prevention, evaluation, treatment, management, and rehabilitation of student-athletes’ injuries and illnesses under the supervision of Team Physicians, Director of Athletic Training and Head Athletic Trainers. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will need to effectively communicate and work in conjunction with Team Physicians and Sports Medicine Staff on treatment and implementing rehabilitation protocols for injured athletes as well as ensure that equipment is properly used, and student-athletes are properly using the athletic training facilities. This position will maintain medical records on student-athletes including physicals, insurance information, medical evaluation and rehabilitation reports, and medical referrals. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will attend workouts when applicable, also attend practice and game events including travel as assigned with teams and schedule proper coverage for events including physicians, EMT's, staff and student athletic trainers. This position will assist with the maintenance of athletic training equipment, monitor inventory, and assist with the preparation of budget request. The Assistant Athletic Trainer must be able to effectively communicate with coaches regarding injured student athletes and medical policies and procedures and follow the NATA code of ethics, attend annual CEU courses and remain current with all national and state certifications and licensure. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is required to comply with University, SEC and NCAA rules and regulations, supervise and educate graduate and undergraduate student athletic trainers and complete all other duties assigned by the Director of Athletic Training and Head Athletic Trainers.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
NATABOC Certification
Arkansas Athletic Trainer license (or eligible to obtain license)
Preferred Qualifications:
Independent decision-making experience relating to the care and treatment of injured/ill student athletes
Experience developing and implementing treatment and rehab programs
Experience with dry needling augmented soft tissue, and joint mobilization
Experience working in SEC or other Power 5 conference
Experience providing athletic health care for Tennis and Spirit Squad
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of University, SEC, and NCAA rules
Effective communication skills
Ability to work nights and weekends (on-call 24/7, 365 days a year)
