The mission of the NC State University Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University. The Sports Medicine Department is responsible for providing medical care for student athletes.
Serve as Athletic Trainer in the Department of Athletics for assigned sport(s). Responsible for the care of student-athletes, to include prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of the injured student-athletes under the supervision of the team physician.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assists with preparation of budget requests and managing inventory of supplies for training room operations.
Interfaces with coaches regarding injured student-athletes.
Follows the
NATA
Code of Ethics; remains current on all state and national requirements for license renewal.
Agrees to comply with all University,
ACC
, and
NCAA
bylaws and legislation.
Supervises student trainers.
Collaborates with the Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition, and Sports Psychology teams to support comprehensive player health and readiness plans.
Participates in daily medical team meetings to determine player availability and injury risk mitigation strategies.
Contributes to data-informed decision-making through documentation and tracking of injury trends, availability metrics, and objective performance testing results.
Performs other duties as requested by the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine or the Head Football Athletic Trainer.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor’s degree required.

| Other Required Qualifications |
- Minimum of one year of Athletic Training experience working with Football
- Strong working knowledge of football-specific injury patterns, recovery strategies, and emergency protocols
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with high-level football coaches, strength staff, and sports performance professionals
- Computer competency
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience working with Division 1 or Professional Football
- Previous experience with advanced return to play progressions in multidisciplinary medical models
- Additional Certifications from NASM, NSCA, or CSCCA
- Master’s degree preferred.
