East Tennessee State University has one (1) position available for an Assistant Athletic Trainer position for the 2023-2024 academic year. Responsibilities include but are not limited to prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of East Tennessee State University Division 1 varsity student-athletes. Sports assignments will be determined once the position has been filled. Additional responsibilities will be determined by the Director of Sports Medicine. Opportunity to work with outpatient physicians services through BucSports Athletic Medicine Center. BucSports Athletic Medicine Center at East Tennessee State University is a multi-disciplinary clinic offering physician and athletic training services to ETSU student-athletes and the general public. The position contract will begin August 1, 2023, and extend until June 30, 2024. The contract is renewable year to year. Knowledge of casting, splinting, and injection prep in an outpatient sports medicine clinic. Knowledge of orthopedic bracing specifically measurement of prophylactic knee braces. Knowledge of athlete monitoring methods and ability to use data analysis to alter training programs. Ability to use ARMS management systems software. Ability to use Vivature/Blue Ocean EMR. Knowledge of baseline and post-injury concussion testing and management Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to understand NCAA Division I policies and procedures.
A Master’s degree in sport science or a related field. Minimum of two years of experience as a certified athletic trainer (certified graduate assistantship accepted). National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) certification at the time of hire. CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer or equivalent along with the eligibility for State of Tennessee licensure, at the time of hire.
Ability to apply casting and splinting material as directed by the team physician and documented expertise with Vivature/Blue Ocean EMR. 1-2 years experience with NCAA Division 1 athletics.
