Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking applicants for an Assistant Athletics Director, Student Athlete Services. This position will manage a comprehensive program to enhance the academic achievement and personal development of the diverse population of Nevada student athletes. This role includes overseeing and leading the Academic Services staff as well as additional student athlete support services. This position reports to Associate Athletic Director, Administration to ensure seamless communication and processes for student athletes.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the academic advising and retention strategies for student athletes, leading and managing the Academic Services team, reporting on the academic progress of student athletes to various constituents, ensuring adherence to NCAA rules and overseeing the necessary academic documentation for Division I status, oversight of all student athlete development programming ensuring graduates acquire the skills needed for post-college success and that the department is meeting NCAA holistic education requirements.

This position works with campus resources to build relationships for tutoring and learning specialist access, as well as communicating the unique needs of athletics to assist in efficient transfer and admissions processes. This position also oversees the Student Athlete Advisory Committee group and ensures that all activities and documentation comply with NCAA and Conference requirements.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and five years of related professional work experience; OR a Master’s Degree and three years of related professional work experience.
Related Experience : work experience in higher education to include experience in intercollegiate athletics, advising and experience with academic NCAA and conference rules and regulations
