This position will assist the head coach in all facets of program, which includes planning, coaching, recruiting, administering, and promoting the baseball team within NCAA and institutional standards. The assistant coach, specializing in pitching, is expected to support the holistic development of student athletes and help to build and maintain a positive championship culture.

Position Description

This position will assist the head coach in all facets of program, which includes planning, coaching, recruiting, administering, and promoting the baseball team within NCAA and institutional standards. The assistant coach, specializing in pitching, is expected to support the holistic development of student athletes and help to build and maintain a positive championship culture.

Primary Duties:

• Provide coaching and instruction to develop pitchers
• Serve as recruiting coordinator for pitchers
• Manage recruiting calendar assignment
• Coordinate ordering of equipment and apparel
• Conduct individual skill instruction for pitchers
• Serve as liaison to academic support staff and manage study hall
• Serve as JumpForward staff contact for playing season management (CARA Logs)
• Manage incoming student (NLI’s, All Paperwork and Financial Aid Calculators & First Class Schedules)
• Assist with Defensive Plans
• Produce and manage scouting reports for opposing hitters through Synergy
• Develop Sign System & Fundamental Series for Pitchers & Catchers
• Serve as staff Trackman Coordinator

Other Duties:

• Serve as August & September Prospect Camp coordinator & contact person
• Serve as Spring Training Camp coordinator & contact person
• Manage camp distribution through recruiting data base
• Serve as Pitcher/Catcher Camp coordinator & contact person
• Assist with Redhawk alumni coordination and fundraising possibilities
• Organize team community service activities as part of TREX

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree and five years of intercollegiate coaching and recruiting experience coaching/or playing at the collegiate level, preferably at NCAA Division I or II or professional basketball, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
• The ability and willingness to exercise discretion and have sound professional judgement is required. Excellent office and administrative skills, task orientation, timeline adherence and the ability to work and collaborate in a group setting.

• Required to complete Coaches Recruiting Certification, annually. Additionally, adult CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required and must be maintained for the entire duration of employment.
• Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, WAC, or any athletics conference in which Seattle University is a member or may join, and other established bodies that govern or oversee intercollegiate athletics. In the event Employee becomes aware, or has reasonable cause to believe, that violations of these organizations’ constitutions, bylaws, rules or regulations may have taken place, Employee shall promptly report the same to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at the University. Employee shall cooperate fully and completely with any investigation of any alleged violation, whether such investigation is conducted by the University, NCAA or any other duly authorized agency or individual.

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $64,000 - $66,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible*
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training.
