Seattle Pacific University is seeking an enthusiastic and mission-aligned Assistant Coach for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field. This part-time position supports all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division II program and plays a key role in student-athlete development—on the track, in the classroom, and in life.
What will you do?
As Assistant Coach, you will:
Partner with the Head Coach to lead a quality Track & Field and Cross Country program that supports SPU’s mission and competes at a high level within NCAA Division II.
Assist with daily coaching duties, including running team practices, facilitating individual workouts, teaching strategy and technique, and promoting student-athlete safety and wellbeing.
Play a central role in recruiting student-athletes who demonstrate strong academic potential, athletic skill, and a commitment to SPU’s Christian identity.
Support student-athletes’ academic success and progress toward graduation through mentoring and accountability.
Coordinate travel arrangements, assist with purchasing equipment, and manage compliance-related documentation (e.g., practice logs, grade checks, official visits).
Create and analyze scouting reports and video breakdowns to support skill development and competitive readiness.
Serve as Director of Falcon Running Camp, overseeing camp planning, coaching, and educational components.

What will you bring?
We’re looking for someone with:
A Bachelor’s degree.
Experience coaching Cross Country and/or Track & Field at the high school, collegiate, or club level.
A maturing and contagious Christian faith, support of and active engagement in the mission of Seattle Pacific University, alignment with the University's Statement of Faith and willingness to accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.
Strong organizational and relational skills, with the ability to plan practices, travel, and team events effectively.
A heart for mentoring student-athletes in their academic, athletic, and spiritual growth.

This category of employment recognizes the unique demands and unusual schedule of coaching an intercollegiate sport. Employees in this category will work an irregular, seasonal schedule with understanding and agreement that during the applicable sports season and certain off-season training periods and/or high-demand recruiting periods the demands may exceed a 19-hour workweek. It is also understood and agreed that during less demanding periods the employee may fulfill the position's responsibilities by working less than 19 hours per week. It is also understood and agreed that there will be designated 3 months during which the employee will be available with reasonable notice for meetings and/or electronic consultation but will otherwise not be scheduled for regular work activities. During this this period, employees in this category will be permitted to accept additional compensated employment either from SPU or outside entities.
Annual pay: $20,000 - $26,000 DOE
