Butler University Football, a member of the Pioneer Football League, is seeking a driven and committed individual to join their team as an Assistant Football Coach, Linebackers. This position is a full-time 12-month exempt position.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and promotion of a competitive NCAA Division I Football program
• Understand, follow and enforce all NCAA bylaws, league regulations, and university academic and other policies and procedures.
• Assist, as requested, with the recruitment of quality players.
• Assist with the running of practices and practice content.
• Assist with oversight and monitoring of the academic progress of student-athletes.
• Reinforce and uphold team rules; behavior guidelines and expectations consistent with university, NCAA and Athletic Department policies.
• Create and foster an environment that promotes the overall health and welfare of student-athletes.

• Support and promote the Athletic Department’s mission, values and principles at public relations functions on campus and in the community.
• Assume temporary administrative roles as required/needed by the Athletic Department.

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Working knowledge of NCAA rules, fundamentals, techniques, and rules of sport.
• Excellent leadership skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, parents, coaches, media, faculty, staff, students and general public.
• Ability to assist in the assessment of athletic skills and instruct athletes in techniques of sport.
• Ability to assist in the developing of game strategies.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree
• Successful playing or coaching at the collegiate level
• Demonstrated fundraising skills

Additional Information:

• Some evening and weekend work and ability to travel to events required
• A background check will be required for employment in this position
