Assistant Men’s and Women’s Water Polo Coach
Overview: Long Island University (LIU) Brooklyn seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Men’s Wrestling Coach to support the head coach in all aspects of the men’s wrestling program. This position involves assisting with practice planning, player development, recruitment, and program administration, contributing to a competitive and positive team environment.
Responsibilities:
Coaching and Leadership: Collaborate with the head coach to develop and execute comprehensive coaching plans focused on enhancing wrestling skills, performance, and team dynamics. Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and sportsmanship.
Recruitment: Actively identify and recruit top-tier student-athletes who align with LIU’s academic and athletic standards. Build and maintain relationships with high school coaches, club programs, and recruitment networks.
Team Management: Oversee all aspects of team operations, including organizing practice schedules, preparing for competition, developing strategies, and ensuring optimal performance and safety of student-athletes.
Academic Support: Work closely with academic advisors to monitor the academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring they meet the university’s academic expectations.
Compliance: Maintain a high level of integrity by ensuring the program adheres to NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
Community Engagement: Represent the program positively within the campus and local communities. Foster relationships with alumni, fans, and donors to increase program visibility and support.
Budget Management: Assist with managing the program’s budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource optimization.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of coaching experience at the NCAA level (or similar high-level experience). A proven track record in developing and recruiting student-athletes.
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes both on and off the mat.
Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations, and policies.
Personal Attributes: Passion for student-athlete development both academically and athletically. Strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to excellence. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, staff, and administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience at an NCAA Division I program.
Proven success in recruitment and talent development.
Experience in building community outreach and increasing program visibility.
