The Department of Athletics is seeking an Assistant Coach: Men’s Golf. This is a full-time (1.00
FTE
),12-month, professional faculty position.
The mission of the

The Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach in the organization, administration and promotion of all aspects of the Oregon State Men’s Golf Program. Coaching includes instruction, academic supervision of the athletes, program management for the specific area assigned and preparation of recommendations to the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. Adheres to the policies set forth by direct supervisors, Head Coach and Athletic Director, as well as Oregon State University, the
PAC
-12 Conference and The National Collegiate Athletic Association.

COACHING

TEACHING
Supports the Head Coach in preparing, planning, conducting, and evaluating practice sessions. Focuses on the overall development of student-athletes, emphasizing skill refinement, mental toughness, on-course decision-making, and competitive readiness. Provides hands-on instruction in individual and group settings, both in-season and off-season, to foster technical growth and consistency under pressure. Acts as a mentor, offering guidance before, during, and after practices, tournaments, and events to help student-athletes reach their full potential

RECRUITMENT
Assists in identifying and recruiting talented student-athletes who are a strong fit for Oregon State University’s golf program. Attends junior tournaments, evaluates prospective players, and maintains relationships with high school and junior coaches. Coordinates campus visits for prospective student-athletes and their families, providing insight into the university’s athletic and academic programs. Collaborates closely with the Head Coach to develop personalized recruitment strategies. This role requires maintaining a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

ADMINISTRATION
Serves as the event coordinator for the program’s home tournament, managing all aspects including procurement, budget oversight, logistics, and volunteer coordination. Assists in long and short-term planning for team goals, player development, and overall program growth under the guidance of the Head Coach, which includes but is not limited to fundraising goals, marketing / team social media profiles. Ensures team and staff compliance with
NCAA
regulations and university policies. Coordinates incoming student-athlete orientation and supports their transition to collegiate athletics, reinforcing academic and athletic expectations. Promotes a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team environment.

SUPERVISION
|Directs all aspects of
OSU
Golf Camps, including budgeting, staffing, and program development. Provides leadership and supervision for assigned staff, setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance evaluations. Recruits, hires, and trains camp personnel, ensuring a high-quality experience for participants. Maintains a safe and inclusive environment, adhering to all university guidelines for working with minors.

FUNDRAISING
Operates as the Tournament Director for various fundraising events, managing logistics, budgets, and donor relations. Develops and presents financial reports to boosters, sponsors, and alumni, enhancing program support and donor engagement. Coordinates with athletic department staff to plan and execute fundraising initiatives.

Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate in a manner that shows respect and inclusivity for student athletes, student workers and colleagues.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Knowledge and experience with
NCAA
, conference, and university rules and regulations is preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
2+ years of experience and proven ability to evaluate / recruit / establish relationships with potential student-athlete(s)
Have worked as a teaching professional or competed as a professional in the game of golf
Experience managing social media channels to bridge Men’s Golf with recruits, fans, donors and alumni.
Working knowledge of Excel,
SQL
, and Python
Proficiency in data analytics, database management, and financial forecasting
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Must work evenings and weekends with extensive travel.
May have access one-on-one with youth under 18 years of age in a Youth Program.
Access to personal information.
Access to expensive equipment and keys to storage areas.
Will be responsible for driving a personal or university vehicle to off campus visits and other related events as necessary.
