POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Coach for men’s and women’s freeski is a part-time hourly position which reports to the Director of Freeski and Snowboard and is responsible for assisting with the coaching and management of the freeski program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Program Director and head coach with the recruitment and retention of qualified student athletes
General knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and experience in coaching freeskiing
Assist the Program Director and Head Coach with administrative tasks as assigned
Assist with practices, competitions, and travel
Support with the advancement of the program and athletes with sponsorships and career development where appropriate
Assist with equipment upkeep and maintenance, including waxing, ordering, etc.
Compliance with institutional, conference and national governing regulations
Required to provide and/or secure and maintain CPR, AED and First Aid Certification
Work closely with other staff to promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the university learning environment and support the academic success of student-athletes
Perform all responsibilities with the highest ethical standards consistent with the University’s mission, vision and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion
Perform other duties as assigned

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Schedule outside normal business hours. This position will require some irregular work schedule including days, nights, weekends and some travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree (preferred)
Demonstrate record of success in coaching and recruiting student athletes at the collegiate level
Ability to work independently
Strong leadership, motivational and organizational skills
Effective interpersonal and public relation communication skills
Ability to create a positive atmosphere conducive to learning
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with high standards and goals
Commitment to high academic and professional standards
