Position Summary:
The Assistant Softball Coach supports the Head Coach in all facets of the NCAA Division II softball
program at Western Oregon University. This position plays a critical role in developing a competitive,
student-centered program that prioritizes academic success, athletic excellence, and personal
growth.
Key Responsibilities:
● Motivate and support student-athletes in achieving success both academically and athletically.
● Scout, evaluate, and maintain regular contact with prospective student-athletes; support the
recruitment process through coordination of official and unofficial campus visits.
● Design, plan, and implement ID camps and clinics that align with program goals.
● Assist with practice planning, game preparation, and post-practice/game evaluations.
● Contribute to the tactical, technical, athletic, and mental development of student-athletes in a
positive, inclusive environment.
Support daily program operations including travel coordination, equipment management, and
budget oversight.
● Assist in student-athlete engagement, program development, and compliance monitoring.
Participate in public relations, promotional activities, and fundraising efforts to support the
program.
● Ensure compliance with all GNAC, NCAA, and institutional rules and policies, including Title IX
and FERPA regulations.
This position requires collaboration with university departments and a commitment to the values of

Required Qualifications: Please ensure your application materials clearly demonstrate how you
meet the following:
● Bachelor’s degree
● Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain clearance to drive university motor pool or rental
vehicles in the state of Oregon
● Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire
● 1–2 years of successful coaching experience at the collegiate, professional, club, or high school
level
