Brief Summary of Job Duties:
Assists the Director of Sports Performance in design, supervision, and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for all intercollegiate sport utilizing sound teaching principles. Assist in the organization of team scheduling of the ICA Sports Performance Center. Assist in coordination of regular cleaning, conduct safety inspections and maintenance needs of equipment. Perform all duties in strict compliance with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, conference and University. Possess a working knowledge of NCAA Compliance rules and report any issues to the Compliance Director. Maintain professional conduct at all times. Maintain a positive working relationship with student-athletes, coaches, staff, university community and the general public.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
60% Teaching Strength & Conditioning - Assists the Director of Sports Performance in the design, supervision, and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for all intercollegiate sports utilizing sound teaching principles. Teaches all aspects of UCSB's strength and conditioning program with thorough knowledge of sports specific techniques, individually designed for each sport. Completes assessment/testing of student-athletes to determine strength, fitness levels and susceptibility toward injury. Uses assessment information to develop and teach strength and conditioning programs to increase strength and fitness level and to prevent injury. Teaches all student-athletes proper use of strength and conditioning equipment, facilities and proper technique for each exercise. Advises student athletes on healthy and sound nutrition habits as well as guidance on NCAA rules governing supplements. Provides all of the above in other campus venues, such as the fields and gymnasiums that the teams normally practice in as necessary. Travels with teams and provides all of the above when deemed appropriate and necessary by the Director of Sports Performance.
20% Scheduling and Facility Operation - Assists in the organization of team scheduling to ensure maximum availability of the equipment for the student-athlete. Schedules ICA teams in the strength and conditioning facility and coordinate its usage. Interfaces with all ICA Head Coaches to establish frequency, duration and intensity of training for their team members. Works with ICA Athletic Trainers to develop and implement rehabilitation training for injured student-athletes.
20% Administrative - Assists in coordination of regular cleaning, conduct safety inspections and manages maintenance needs of all equipment. Assist in the supervision of volunteer and part-time staff. Delegates responsibilities in terms of schedule, work load and individual responsibility. Develops a UCSB Strength Training and Conditioning manual. Other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.
