Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with coaching and programming for horizontal and vertical jumps in the Track and Field program within the Division II intercollegiate program
Challenge, develop, and care for the physical, mental and personal abilities of student-athletes
Collaborate with other track and field coaching staff, strength and conditioning coaches, and athletic trainers
Develop the team to reflect PLNU's mission, and readily demonstrate student development goals, athletic department objectives and overall program success.
Develop a spiritual focus consistent with university goals which will promote individual athletes spiritual growth, team involvement in service, worship, and involvement in athletic department activities that support the spiritual growth of all athletes.
Build a program that results in high retention and graduation rates while helping the student body enthusiastically embrace and support the team and its activities.
Target recruitment efforts to result in effective signings of student athletes who are institutionally compatible in lifestyle standards, academic expectations, committed to graduation and enhancing the PLNU identity.
Build a collegial environment in decision-making and administrative effectiveness throughout the University campus and within the athletic department staff.
Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with all PacWest Conference and NCAA rules and regulations as they relate to all job-related activities.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience coaching and knowledge of women’s horizontal/vertical jumps.
Passion for coaching and developing student-athletes.
Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
Must posses a US driver’s license and be able to safely operate Point Loma vehicles
Ability to understand the complexity of student involvement in a Christian higher education setting and to mentor athletes to be successful in the total university experience.
Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of Point Loma Nazarene University.
Ability to support and stimulate student athlete holistic growth and to generate activities which enhance athletes' potential academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Ability to relate effectively with students and student-athletes.
Demonstrated abilities in teaching, recruitment and administration management.
Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU’sCommunity Life Covenant.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work is continuously walking and may require sitting, standing, bending etc. for extended periods.
Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor.
Ability to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone.
Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.
