The Assistant Coach for Volleyball will assist the Head Coach in the administration of all aspects of the volleyball program, including coaching, recruiting, (communicating with prospects and their coaches and families, organizing prospect data bases, evaluating prospects at their practices and competitions, organizing personal recruiting travel, assisting and coordinating campus visits); practice planning; facilitation of participation in a variety of practice drills; game management, and sports medicine; performing the requisite research and film study to create effective scouting reports; be able to travel as needed for the program’s competitive season and recruiting, and assist in planning and coordinating said travel; and other duties as assigned by the head coach. This individual will assist with the promotion of the team, as well as the University of Nebraska Omaha.

Leadership and Management
· This position will instruct student-athletes in the required skills necessary to compete at the highest level of competition in the collegiate game. Under the direction of the Head Coach, this position will motivate student-athletes; conduct individual skill instruction; coach specific positions and/or game situations.
· This position will be relied upon to give effective feedback to staff and student-athletes in preparation for, and during, all practices and competitions.
· This position will help administer all facets of the volleyball program. This could include, but is not limited to, planning and organizing practices; reviewing opponents’ game-film; preparing scouting reports of future opponents; recruiting; and making public appearances when requested.
Strategic Planning & Leadership
· This position will require the evaluation of individual team members’ performances in practice and in games, and meeting individually with them to discuss, correct, and improve their play.
· This position will also require the coach to motivate individual student-athletes to perform at the highest level of performance that they can achieve.
Management
· This position will require the coach to be involved with the management of practice sessions at the direction of the head coach. This will include practice planning; pre-practice team meetings; full-team and individual direction on the court; and post-practice evaluation of the team and their individual performances.
· This position may require the coach to be deeply involved with pre-game preparation, and in-game bench coaching under the direction of the head coach.
Other
· This position must demonstrate concern for the academic pursuits of the student-athletes by adherence to department, university, and NCAA academic policies. This individual must be invested in the personal academic goals for each team member and invest in supporting each student-athlete’s attempt to reach their academic goals.
· This individual must study, know, and follow all University, NCAA, and Summit League policies and procedures.
Varies - Includes Nights and Weekends
Previous playing and/or coaching experience at the collegiate level.
This person must display exemplary communication skills with staff, student-athletes, administration, media, faculty, and the community. This person must be able to instruct the skills related to volleyball, motivate young student-athletes, and display a strong knowledge of game tactics. This person must demonstrate a vision of what a quality Division 1 volleyball player should look like and possess the inner drive to recruit and coach athletes to a championship level.
