Summary

The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting in the direction of all phases of a nationally competitive program in accordance with Barry University, the Sunshine State Conference, and NCAA DII regulations. Specifically, duties include recruiting, handling video exchange, and individual instruction/player improvement, coordinating community involvement, completing/submitting administrative and compliance documents, and other duties assigned by the head coach. 

This is an 11-month position. ​

Essential Functions

• Organizes, supervises, and coordinates practice sessions.

• Establishes and maintains an organized recruiting system.  Recruits academically qualified student-athletes who form a competitive squad and meet established academic goals and objectives of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.  Participates in community service activities…   

• Maintains adequate records, and interacts with Compliance Coordinator and Faculty Athletic Representative on all matters pertaining to eligibility.

• Plans for transportation, lodging, and meals for the team. 

• Stays abreast of modern techniques, trends, and strategies. 

• Manages the fiscal affairs of his/her budget and develops a fund-raising effort for his/her sport. 

• Responsible for student data; including admissions, financial aid, registration, and academic performance data.  All such data is treated as confidential in accordance with federal, state, and university regulations.

Qualifications/Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in any discipline is required. A Master's degree is preferred.

• 1-3 years of related experience.

• Must have a valid driver's license

• General knowledge of MS Word and Outlook

• Adept at written and oral communication
