The position of Assistant Coach for the William & Mary Women’s Tennis program is responsible for the education, management, development, recruitment, organization and implementation for undergraduate and graduate students in connection with the William & Mary Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Women’s Tennis Program. Leads special events in the field of tennis education and management and provides training and both individual and group instruction. Coordinates communications, assessments, recruitment and programming needs for the Women’s Tennis program at William & Mary and assists with interoffice administrative tasks as required.
Must meet physical requirements for the job, including the ability to participate in and lead strenuous physical activities.
Must be available to work nights and weekends.
Frequent overnight travel during week and on weekends throughout the year.
Prolonged periods of sitting and standing indoors and frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.

Faculty or Staff: 12 month
Bachelor’s degree and significant or extensive professional level of experience or specialized expertise.
Demonstrated skills or competencies related to the sport through previous playing and/or coaching experience.
Demonstrated ability to transfer technical and tactical knowledge of the sport of tennis to players through positive coaching and teaching methods, in individual and team instruction.
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion in the instruction and coaching of student-athletes in individual skill instruction and small group sessions.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead small and large group discussions.
Strong proficiency in a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook), and the ability to utilize the latest advances in technology.
Master’s Degree.
Collegiate and/or professional playing experience.
Collegiate and/or professional coaching experience.
Experience identifying and successfully recruiting qualified student-athletes.

Remote work eligibility is not guaranteed and is subject to approval. Employee eligibility depends on the likelihood of the employee succeeding in a remote work arrangement and the supervisor’s ability to manage remote workers. All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
