Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
• Knowledge of general university policies and procedures
• Ability to prepare and conduct training for tennis student-athletes. Evaluate student-athletes to identify strengths and deficiencies, and design instructional opportunities to teach student-athletes how to improve technical and strategic execution
• Ability to assist in conditioning programs, in coordination with strength and conditioning staff, encompassing recognized and approved methods of improving power, speed, strength and aerobic performance, consistent with industry safety and health standards
• As an NCAA certified recruiter, ability to research, scout, evaluate and contact prospective student-athletes while operating within the scope of the department, conference and NCAA regulations at all times.
• Demonstrated ability to transfer technical and tactical knowledge of the sport of tennis to players effectively and positively
• Strong communication skills to effectively work with a diverse work force and student-athlete population
• Ability to travel throughout the academic year and summer
• Ability to establish and develop relationships with appropriate high school and junior college officials, academy/club coaches, and recruiting agencies for public relations purposes, thus positioning the program for recruiting success

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree with additional consideration for Master’s degree
• Experience playing or coaching golf at the collegiate level

Job Description

Responsible for recruiting, developing, and providing direct & independent coaching to student-athletes in assistance to the Head Coach.

Job Duties

The Assistant Tennis Coach is responsible for the direct and independent coaching of student-athletes during practice and tournaments, the assessment and recruitment of prospective student-athletes, creation of individualized development plans for each student-athlete, monitoring the academic progress of Tennis student-athletes, facilitating team meetings, participating in public relations, marketing and fund raising for the Tennis program and the athletic department and complying with NCAA and Texas State University rules and regulations.
