Job Description:
Under administrative direction, provides coaching and administrative assistance to the Head Coach. Assists in the planning and directing of recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of team members for sports competition. Promotes Intercollegiate Athletics as an integral part of the University. Assists the Head Coach, in monitoring student athlete’s performance in furthering the success of the team and in meeting academic and eligibility criteria. Adheres to NCAA and Big 12 rules and regulations, as well as Arizona Board of Regents, University, and Athletic Department policies and procedures. Reports to the Head Coach.
Salary Range: Depends on Experience
Essential Duties:
Assists in overseeing daily practices.
Assists in session preparation and set up when necessary.
Assists in the recruitment and selection of student-Athletes for Women’s Triathlon program.
Assists in the conditioning, training and performance of team members.
Assists in strategic planning and long-term development of the program with the Head
coach.
Travel to locations designated by the Head Coach for recruiting, competition and education purposes.
Assists in monitoring academic progress and eligibility status of student team members and the participation of team members in class attendance and meeting mandatory study hall requirements.
Adheres to all University, NCAA, and Conference rules. Counsels student - athletes in their obligations to observe rules and procedures adopted by the University, Conferences, and the NCAA.
Participates in public relation and community engagement activities, which are in conformance with all applicable rules and regulations governing Intercollegiate Athletics as approved by SDA Administration and Head Coach.
Performs other administrative duties pertaining to the program as assigned by the Head Coach.
Participate in recruiting strategies, prospect identification and planning with head coach.
Performs compliance tasks with ARMS/TCR. Cara’s etc.
Performs travel arrangements and bookings for all travel with travel services and/or Administrative Assistant.
Assists Development Officer and Head Coach with community engagement, cultivating relationships and soliciting gifts to the program.
Create and implement open practice opportunities to discover and cultivate new relationships with potential donors at the request of the Head Coach. .
Start an alumni group to keep all records up to date and engage them with the program.
Create and send a monthly newsletter to supporters, alumni and fans of the program.
Attend community meetings for the sport and presenting when appropriate on ways to become involved with Sun Devil Tri.
Work with Sun Devil Athletics (SDA) events team on a year-end banquet, ring ceremony and other functions.
Assist SDA staff with National Championships event planning.
Assist Head coach and Sports and Information Director with website updates and social media.
Other duties as needed and as assigned by the Head Coach.

Knowledge of techniques and methods specific to draft legal triathlon, knowledge of science and technology of training and conditioning for peak triathlon performance.
Knowledge of Triathlon specific training software such as training peaks, etc.
Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.
Skill in coaching and/or competing as an athlete at the college, university, Elite Club, or Professional level.
Skill in interpersonal relations.
Skill in both verbal and written communication.
Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment.
Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution’s sustainability programs.
Ability and willingness to continuously learn to improve coaching strategy and ability.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years prior coaching experience at the college/university, Junior Elite, or Professional level; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. USAT level 1 or 2 coaching certification or equivalent from another country.

Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (60%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk/run moderate distances to perform work (20%).
Assistant Coach must be able to perform on bike in group riding and must be able to active.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (20%)
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts and problem solve.
Occasionally expected to help athletes complete key workouts by providing pacing assistance in bike, swim or run.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.

EQUIPMENT USED:
Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
Operate a motor vehicle.
Proficiency with coaching software such as Training Peaks as well as knowledge of training tools such as heart rate monitors, Garmin watches, power meters on bikes.
Basic knowledge of bike mechanics.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED/GIVEN:
General supervision received by the Head Coach.
