STATUS: FULL-TIME

Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for the full-time position of assistant coach, women’s soccer. Lake Erie College is an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). The assistant coach is responsible for duties as assigned by the head coach and will manage a secondary responsibility as defined. This is a twelve-month appointment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serves as recruiter for the sport of women’s Soccer, identifying and evaluating potential students with that interest and organizing their recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admissions.
• Assists with organization of all aspects of the program, including coaching and management of facility, practice and team operations.
• Provides aid to the head coach in accomplishing all of the soccer team’s goals such as academic and athletic success as well as positive relationship building within the team, Lake Erie College, and surrounding community.

• Provides aid to the head coach in accomplishing all of the soccer team’s goals such as academic and athletic success as well as positive relationship building within the team, Lake Erie College, and surrounding community.
• Leads the training and management of the team’s goalkeepers.
• Helps execute team fundraising efforts, including participation in camps and clinics.
• Handles uniform and equipment maintenance and inventory.
• Assists with student-athlete study table coverage and coordination.
• Projects and promotes an inclusive education with the highest standards, where student-athletes are empowered to leave lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens.
• Acts as an ambassador of the College and conducts oneself in a positive manner to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents.
• Operates within the mission of the College and athletics department to ensure a full NCAA DII student-athlete experience.
• Follows all institutional, GMAC and NCAA regulations regarding women’s soccer and athletics in general.
• Assists with transportation of team in vans or bus, upon approval.
• Helps promote visibility and awareness of the designated sport’s program.
• Assists with all game setups and operations.
• Other duties as assigned by the head coach, women’s soccer or director of athletics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Must have demonstrated ability to recruit prospective student-athletes.
• Must have ability to work across academic and administrative departments in a cooperative manner.
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to supervise respective staff, as well as understand the student-athletes' commitment to academics, is a must.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and the community.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
• Prior playing or coaching experience, preferably at the college level.
• Must have strong team building and management skills.
• Ability to supervise student-athletes.
• Experience working with goalkeepers preferred.
• NSCAA or USSF license preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified applicants will have the availability to work evenings and weekends, possess a valid driver’s license for transportation of team in vans or bus and have the ability to travel for team practices, competition and scouting.

Under the NCAA Bylaw 11.1.6 Sports-Safety Training, each head coach and all other coaches who are employed full time at an institution shall maintain current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use.

All members of the department of athletics staff are responsible for following all institutional and NCAA regulations regarding recruiting and operations of the program and understanding that department of athletics staff members who knowingly violate, conceal or attempt to cover up violations of NCAA rules shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
