Long Island University (LIU) Brooklyn seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Wrestling Coach to support the head coach in all aspects of the men’s volleyball program. This position involves assisting with practice planning, player development, recruitment, and program administration, contributing to a competitive and positive team environment.
• Coaching and Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive coaching plan focused on enhancing player skills, performance, and team dynamics. Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and sportsmanship.
• Recruitment: Identify and recruit top-tier student-athletes who align with the institution’s academic and athletic standards. Build and maintain relationships with high school coaches, club programs, and recruiting networks.
• Team Management: Oversee all aspects of team operations, including practice schedules, game strategies, and player development. Ensure optimal performance and safety of student-athletes.
• Academic Support: Promote the academic success of student-athletes by working closely with academic advisors to ensure that all players meet the university’s academic expectations.
• Compliance: Ensure that the program operates within NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations. Maintain a high level of integrity and compliance with all governing bodies.
• Community Engagement: Represent the program in a positive light within the campus and local communities. Build relationships with alumni, fans, and donors to strengthen the program's reputation and support.
• Budget Management: Oversee the program’s budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource optimization.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of coaching experience at the NCAA level (or similar high-level experience). Proven track record of success in recruiting and developing student-athletes.
• Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes both on and off the field.
• Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations, and policies.
• Personal Attributes: A passion for student-athlete development, both academically and athletically. Strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to excellence. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, staff, and administration.
• Coaching experience at an NCAA Division I program.
• Previous experience as a coach or in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated success in recruitment and talent development.
• Strong background in community outreach and building program visibility.
