The Assistant Communications Director directs and coordinates the flow of information to the news media by serving as the primary point contact for Women's Basketball and an Olympic sport.
95% Directs and coordinates the flow of information to the news media and fans by serving as the primary point contact for Women's Basketball and an Olympic sport as assigned; Oversees, develops, and executes social media strategies for these two sports; Maintains statistical records, writes press releases and feature stories that pertain to LSU athletics, its players and coaches; Oversees the direction and coordination of flow of information to the news media concerning other sports as assigned by the Sports Information Director.
5% Assists with the overall publicity of all 21 varsity sports; Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of a respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with two years experience working in public relations and/or athletic communications office; Strong written, verbal, social media, organizational and desktop publishing experience. LSU values skills, experience, and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply— a degree is not required as long as the candidate meets the required years of experience specified.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree; Experience in a Division I communications office setting; Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Ability to work extended days and weekends. Travel is required.
