Primary Job Responsibilities:
Prepare the University’s financial statements in accordance with principles generally accepted in the US in coordination with the external auditors.
Assign and review the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, review binders, supporting documents, and related lead sheets in preparation of the annual audit.
Prepare year end audit schedules and serve as point person on annual audit.
Coordinate the University’s annual NCAA Agreed Upon Procedures (AUP) engagement between the Office of Accounting and Business Services, the Athletic Department, and the external accountants.
Coordinate the University benefit plan audits in conjunction with the Senior Payroll Accountant and Retirement Plan Manager.
Provide guidance to Business Managers and other University members on accounting related issues.
Review and approve journal entries.
Responsible for various aspects of the fixed asset process including the annual review of asset expenditures for proper capitalization to the balance sheet, calculation of annual depreciation for all fixed assets, preparation of fixed asset related audit schedules, and collaboration with facilities to review status of capital projects.
Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Programs to review/approve journal entries and quarterly draws.
Prepare and analyze data for various annual surveys and report filings.
Prepare standard and ad hoc reports for Board of Trustee meetings as needed.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
Perform other duties, as assigned, to meet the operational needs of the Office of Accounting & Business Services.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field is required. A master’s degree in business administration or accounting is preferred, with at least seven years of progressive work experience in a fast-paced general accounting office. CPA designation or in process of pursuing CPA license is preferred. Public Accounting and/or Higher Education experience is required. A highly developed attention to detail is required, as are excellent analytical and critical thinking and decision making skills, and the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of people, with clear oral and written communication. Expertise with Microsoft Excel is required. Banner systems experience is preferred but comparable main frame experience may be substituted. Ability to work in a standard office environment. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 15 pounds.

$120,000 - $140,000 annualized; commensurate with experience
