Job Description:

The Assistant Dance Coach will support the Head Dance Coach in all aspects of the varsity dance program. This includes assisting with choreography, training, recruitment, and administrative duties. The assistant coach will play a vital role in enhancing the gameday atmosphere at men's and women's basketball games and representing the university at major events, such as Admissions Open Houses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Head Coach to develop and implement choreography for performances and competitions.
• Assist in planning and conducting regular practices, ensuring athletes' safety and skill development.
• Support recruitment efforts by identifying and engaging prospective student-athletes.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
• Coordinate logistics for events, including travel arrangements and performance schedules.
• Ensure compliance with university policies and athletic department guidelines.

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Previous experience in dance coaching or instruction, preferably at the collegiate or high school level.
• Proficiency in various dance styles, such as jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and pom.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required by the team's schedule.
• Commitment to fostering an environment that supports diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with competitive dance teams and knowledge of collegiate athletic standards.
• Familiarity with choreography software and music editing tools.
• CPR and First Aid certification.

Salary/Hours/Benefits

• $7,000 Salary, 10-month contract
• Part Time
