Assistant Athletic Director, Athletic Communications
Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications will oversee the publicity and promotion of the Athletics department, including press releases, publications, statistical information, and the maintenance of the Athletics website. Produces audio and video broadcasts and manages social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc). The incumbent will serve as the media liaison between Athletic programs and local media as well as the Gulf South Conference and NCAA. This position is responsible for developing community interest stories.

Able to manage routine operations for the Athletic Communications Department. Strong communication, organization, writing, editing, and design skills. Experience working with NCAA statistic programs. Working experience in the sports information/athletics communication field.
Strong writing ability. Advanced graphic design skills. Play-by-play broadcast experience. Public address announcing experience. Advanced knowledge of video streaming options, including knowledge of video cameras. Experience managing a staff of undergraduate students. Experience covering varsity sports sponsored by University.
50% - Administration: Serve as departmental liaison with all college publication & communication offices, while developing the strategy for external and internal constituent communication. Primary athletics department contact for any crisis communication with campus. Provide leadership and strategic storytelling skills while developing staff to ensure a high standard of content strategy, brand development, creative ideation, and strategic communications. Manage the content calendar and establish a calendar outlining the necessary annual updates/tasks to accomplish. Facilitate day-to-day operations and project management within the athletics communications office (game notes, award nominations, updating GoArgos.com, communication with opposing teams, responding to all information/media requests). Advise, develop, and execute public relations strategy in consultation with the Director of Athletics or designated staff. Oversees both the organization and maintenance of all permanent records of UWF varsity athletics, including letter winner lists; results of team contests and all relevant statistics; individual performances of interest; national and regional polls; and other information as appropriate. Responsible for development and management of annual budget and all financial aspects of strategic communications. Represent UWF with the conference, NCAA, and other related organizations. Travels as needed with varsity teams, serving as communications contact while providing administrative support. Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
25% - Personnel Management: Recruits, hires, trains, and develops full time and auxiliary staff. Oversee staff to ensure strategic priorities and alignment of coverage for all 15 sport programs and while maintaining personal proficiency as well as staff proficiency on all industry shifts. Responsible for the staffing and management of press areas for selected home contests, including issuance of credentials, assignment and supervision of statisticians and support personnel, and establishment of a professional atmosphere. - (Essential)
25% - Multimedia Management: Develop, implement, and educate relevant constituent groups on communication strategy as well as execute the strategy, while leading a team of 3 full time, 4 graduate assistants, and numerous part time employees. Serve as the primary media contact for the athletic department, schedule and coordinate interviews, and build relationships to solicit event coverage and feature stories. Serves as direct contact with all media representatives (i.e., print, online, radio, and television) interested in UWF Athletics and building relationships to solicit event coverage and feature stories. Responsible for the development, editing, and distribution of all media releases, feature stories, and hometown releases. Developing concepts and assigning material to staff and freelancers as appropriate. Serve as the primary contact for selected sports. Responsibilities include: reporting scores and results to the Gulf South Conference, NCAA, coaches associations, and other organizations. Collaborates with the varsity sports administration on the nomination of student-athletes for the NCAA, Gulf South Conference and other organization Academic All-America awards, Academic All-GSC recognition, and other general and sport-specific awards. Provides appropriate media material including game notes, programs, statistics, and media guides while arranging in-game and post-game interviews as appropriate. Enhance regional and national media exposure. Oversight of social media channels, GoArgos.com website and video production, including live broadcasts via internet and radio. - (Essential)
