Position Summary and Qualifications:
The Assistant Director for Athletics Facilities, Event Management and Equipment is responsible for assisting with the daily operations and management of practice, competition, and other activities for the 21 intercollegiate athletics programs at Saint Joseph’s University. The Assistant Director will be responsible for monitoring and preparing facilities and equipment for clean, safe, and high-quality functionality as well as managing all equipment room operations. The Assistant Director will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and supervising student staff, and serving as the primary event manager for home competitions as assigned. The position requires a proactive and collaborative approach to facilities maintenance, game and equipment operations, event management and coordinating with internal and external partners as needed.

Conduct regular safety and maintenance inspections of athletics areas as assigned by the Director of Athletics Facilities and Event Management.
Serve as the primary contact for Athletic Center/Hagan Arena/Ramsay Center for maintenance and housekeeping issues; responsible for work order tracking and escalation of issues as appropriate.
Coordinate with University facilities, housekeeping, contracted third parties, etc. to ensure facilities and associated equipment are clean, safe, and properly maintained.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct regular safety and maintenance inspections of athletics areas as assigned by the Director of Athletics Facilities and Event Management.
Serve as the primary contact for Athletic Center/Hagan Arena/Ramsay Center for maintenance and housekeeping issues; responsible for work order tracking and escalation of issues as appropriate.
Coordinate with University facilities, housekeeping, contracted third parties, etc. to ensure facilities and associated equipment are clean, safe, and properly maintained.
Prepare athletics facilities for internal and external events, including setup, breakdown, staffing and support services as needed.
Implement and enforce facility hours of operation, access/use policies and procedures, and scheduled timing for programming and events.
Recruit, train, schedule, evaluate and oversee payroll for all building supervisors and equipment room student staff.
Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship manager with our apparel company representatives to ensur e that both parties adhere to the contract and issues are handled promptly and consistent with the terms of the contract, University policy, and NCAA rules.
Assist with equipment and apparel orders for teams, including receiving, inventorying and addressing any shipping or invoicing issues.
Serve as a steward of the University and conference brands, logos and colors, and ensure that such branding elements on all apparel and equipment is consistent with NCAA, University and conference standards.
Develop and maintain an electronic inventory system to ensure that all athletic uniforms and equipment are procured, issued and returned in an efficient manner and consist with University policies. Advise on uniform replacement cycles as appropriate.
Oversee the laundering of practice gear, game uniforms and towels.
Serve as the primary event manager for one or more sports as assigned.
Assist in coordinating with campus partners on parking, security, and other operational issues related to home athletics competitions.
Provide exceptional customer service to students, staff, campus partners and guests, and help to foster and maintain an inclusive environment that is welcoming to all.
Assist with monitoring the scheduling, use and maintenance of SJU golf carts.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain CPR, motor vehicle safety certification, and other job-related certifications.
The person who holds this position has been classified as a Campus Security Authority under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years of experience in a highly-competitive education-based athletic environment.
Previous experience in managing and maintaining athletics facilities, game management or equipment operations.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to utilize and leverage technology to increase effectiveness and efficiency in completing tasks inherent to this role (documentation/reporting, scheduling, signage, etc.).
High-level problem-solving and critical thinking skills, strong attention to detail.
Ability to adapt, prioritize tasks, and be decisive in a fast-paced dynamic environment and under pressure.
Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with diverse constituents.
Understand the need for a customer service-focused approach.
Adherence to NCAA and member conference rules and regulations.
Preferred:
Experience in a Division I athletics department.
Previous experience facilities, game management and supervising staff.
Understand and appreciate the role and importance of facilities and event management in the student experience and the recruiting process.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Ability to lift equipment or other heavy items (50-75 pounds), work in various environmental conditions, and otherwise be able to appropriately prepare facilities and equipment for practice, competition, and special events.
Must be able and willing to work long days, nights and weekends as needed.
