Under the direct supervision of the Appropriate Administrator and Lead, the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications supports the development, coordination, and delivery of sports information and media relations for the University’s athletic programs. The ideal candidate possesses a general knowledge of media relations, public affairs, and sports information, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively present information, create engaging content, and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders. They have the ability to analyze information and data, apply sound reasoning, and translate complex concepts into clear, concise messaging. The candidate is skilled at following established guidelines while providing thoughtful input and feedback when appropriate. They are highly organized, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities, adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in using technology, including social media platforms and relevant software applications, is essential, as is a willingness to travel as needed. Additionally, the ideal candidate must maintain knowledge of and comply with all applicable NCAA and Big West Conference rules and regulations, promptly reporting any concerns or potential violations to the CSULB Athletics NCAA Compliance Officer.
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field required.

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects (10 pounds or less).
