Saint Anselm College, a private liberal arts college in the benedictine tradition is seeking an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. This is a full-time, 11-month position (with June off). Reporting to Director of Athletic Communications, the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications supports the day-to-day operations of Saint Anselm College’s Athletic Communications Office. This position works collaboratively to promote the College’s 22 varsity NCAA Division II sports through written, visual, and digital storytelling while helping maintain accurate statistics, records, and media coverage.

The ideal candidate is a versatile communicator with a passion for college athletics, strong writing skills, and experience managing digital content and social media. This position will assist in enhancing the visibility of Saint Anselm Athletics and will be instrumental in student-athlete recognition and brand building.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sports Information & Media Relations

• Serve as the primary communications contact for select varsity teams, including creating press releases, game previews/recaps, and feature stories.
• Assist with media relations efforts, including credentialing, press box/table management, and postgame responsibilities.
• Compile, maintain, and distribute official statistics and records in accordance with NCAA and NE10 guidelines.
• Support the nomination of student-athletes and teams for weekly, seasonal, and academic awards.

2. Website & Digital Content Management

2. Website & Digital Content Management

• Help manage the athletics website (saintanselmhawks.com) by updating rosters, schedules, results, bios, and news.
• Maintain historical archives, team records, and student-athlete achievements.
• Work with third-party vendors (e.g., SIDEARM, Genius Sports, StatCrew) to ensure data accuracy and system functionality.

3. Social Media & Graphics

• Contribute to department-wide social media strategy by creating sport-specific content including score updates, graphics, and features.
• Assist in the development of visual content (graphics, short-form video, infographics) for digital platforms.
• Engage with student-athletes, coaches, and fans to grow online presence and promote key initiatives.

4. Event & Game Day Coverage

• Provide live coverage, statistics, and media support for home games and select road contests.
• Assist in the coordination of game day staff including statisticians, announcers, and student workers.
• Operate or assist with live streaming (NE10 NOW), scoreboard systems, and in-venue presentation as needed.

5. Student Worker Development & Department Support

• Mentor and supervise student workers, interns, and event assistants.
• Contribute to special projects including Hall of Fame events, Senior Day recognitions, or milestone celebrations.
• Support institutional messaging and priorities in partnership with College Communications.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, sports management, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in sports information, athletic communications, or a related area (graduate assistantships acceptable).
• Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with NCAA statistical software (Genius, StatCrew, Presto) and website platforms (SIDEARM Sports).
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere) and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with digital photography, video editing, and/or motion graphics.
• Knowledge of NCAA Division II philosophy and athletic compliance.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and occasional travel.

• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
