accounts, ledgers, and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to
ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions
* Assist the department in a variety of monthly and annual financial reporting activities, including but not limited to; engaging with external and internal audit; developing and analyzing department, campus, and external reporting.
* Assist with training and guiding staff in processing procedures
* Answer questions and provide accounting related information to internal and external stakeholders according to established policies and procedures
* Assist with quarterly and annual budget review
* Assist with establishing and maintaining effective internal controls
* This position requires a high level of independent judgment to oversee and perform accounting and financial reporting duties

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
This position is posted at the levels of Accountant I and II. The level of the position will be determined based upon the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.
One (1) or more years of related, professional work experience is preferred.
The most qualified candidates will bring to this position the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), development of financial statements under GAAP, financial reporting principles and automated accounting system processes and operations;
- Ability to develop, implement and maintain cash based accounting systems;
- Computer applications, spreadsheet, and word processing aptitude;
- Ability to identify problems and develop and implement a plan to resolve the problem in accordance with UW policies;
- Time management skills;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees;
- Customer service and communication skills;
- Good organizational skills and experience in formal documentation; and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
The following knowledge, skills and abilities are a plus, but not required:
- Knowledge of University applications and databases including WISER and Automated Travel System (e-reimbursement);
- Knowledge of university level travel policies, practices and principles for a delegated department;
- Knowledge of state statutes, NCAA regulations, administrative rules and department policies.

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
