About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Assistant Director of Creative Video serves as the primary video creator for SMU Football, leading the development of both short- and long-form video content that supports the program’s recruiting, social media, and marketing goals.
This role involves planning, shooting, editing, and producing dynamic video content across multiple platforms.
The ideal candidate will bring creativity, initiative, and a strong work ethic to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Essential Functions:
Plan, film, and edit a wide range of video content including highlights, behind-the-scenes features, and recruiting content.
Produce video content for use on social media, marketing platforms, recruiting campaigns, and team messaging.
Collaborate with coaches and staff to develop creative storytelling concepts that elevate the program’s brand.
Maintain organization of video libraries, archives, and digital assets.
Operate and manage Sony camera equipment and ensure high production quality.
Use Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects) to create professional video edits.
Assist with creative direction on graphics and visual content as needed.
Support photography and other multimedia content efforts as needed.
Position requires frequent evenings/weekends required for games and events
Position requires occasional travel for away games, recruiting shoots, or production needs
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required. Degree in Film, Communications, Media Production, or related field
A minimum of three years of work experience creating video content is required.
Experience creating video content for a Division I football program, preferred. Demonstrated experience producing diverse video projects, desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Strong written communication skills and a strong customer service orientation are preferred.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills. The ability to work under tight deadlines, and willingness to take initiative and work independently are essential.
Candidate must have strong creative and technical video production skills. Strong project management skills and a focus on attention to detail are essential.
A strong working knowledge of Adobe CC (Premiere Pro, After Effects), preferred Experience operating Sony camera systems (FX6, FX3, a1, a7siii, etc.), desired. Certifications in Adobe or other creative software are a plus.
Photography and graphic design experience and familiarity with Blender or other 3D content tools, preferred. Experience with video editing platforms, file transfer and cloud storage systems, desired. Experience with motion graphics and animation is a plus.
