About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Assistant Director of Creative Video position offers an exciting opportunity to capture and showcase the memorable moments within the SMU Football program and the vibrant city of Dallas.
Collaborating closely with fellow members of the creative team, the Assistant Director of Creative Video will play a pivotal role in conceptualizing, producing, and launching a diverse array of video content centered around SMU Football. From cinematic storytelling and organic behind-the-scenes footage to season intro videos and compelling recruiting campaigns, your mission will be to curate a captivating collection of moments that showcases the program's spirit and energy.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic, passionate, and detail-oriented professional with a knack for bringing ideas to life through visual storytelling.
Essential Functions:
Filming practices, games, workouts, and various team activities throughout the season.
Collaborating with the creative team to develop innovative video campaigns and concepts forseasonal initiatives and recruiting efforts.
Overseeing the creative direction, branding, and visual style of all video content, ensuring acohesive and impactful aesthetic.
Building genuine connections with student-athletes, understanding their stories, andcapturing their personalities on camera.
Supervising and mentoring a team of student videographers, providing guidance, andfostering their growth and development.
Maintaining an organized and accessible library of footage from various sources, ensuringproper cataloging and labeling.
Staying up-to-date with social media trends and innovative storytelling techniques toenhance the program's visual presence.
Fulfilling requests from broadcast networks, conferences, and TV networks as needed.
Position requires occasional regular and weekend work during the season. Position also requires weekend travel for away games.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required. Master's degree is preferred.
A minimum of two years of experience is required, preferably in college athletics. Experience in Division 1 football program desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. A strong customer service orientation is essential.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills. Strong project management skills and a focus on attention to detail are essential.
Candidate must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment, while fulfilling content needs quickly. Must also have the ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changing priorities and needs. A strong understanding of NCAA and ACC rules and regulations and the ability to learn SMU rules and regulations are essential.
Candidate must have strong working knowledge of Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects. Familiarity working with Sony equipment, and the Mac OS ecosystem preferred. Experience with fixed lighting sets (i.e. media days, interviews) desired.
