Target hiring range for this position will be between $75,000-$125,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Football Performance reports to the Director of Football Performance and assists in all aspects of sports performance for football student-athletes.

Specific Responsibilities :

· Develops football strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes with review from the Director of Football Sports Performance or Director of Athletic Training Services; 30%

· Supervises and coordinates strength and conditioning programs for football as required; 30

· Responsible for strength testing and evaluation as assigned; 10%

· Responsible for strength and conditioning programs which elicit safe and correct execution of exercise technique; 5%

· Effectively communicates with athletic trainers and coaches on exercise protocol; 5%

· Participates in monthly Student-Athlete Performance Summit with Intercollegiate Sports Medicine Staff; 5%

· Promotes the football sports performance program at Northwestern University at requested times including but not limited to the recruitment of prospective student-athletes; 5%

· Represents the Department at University, Big Ten Conference, and national-level conferences and professional development opportunities as assigned by the Director of Sports Performance; 5%

· Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.

· Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

· Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the NSCA or CSCCA Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association before employment starting date and maintained throughout appointment

· Maintenance of CPR, AED and First Aid training required

Preferred Qualifications:

· Master’s degree preferred

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

· Previous strength and conditioning coaching experience with collegiate student-athletes preferred

· Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred

· Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact with diverse populations.

· Ability to establish engaging relationships within and across racialized and other marginalized communities
