Job Description

The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant Director, Football Video. This is a full-time (probationary and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Assistant Director will assist the Director and Associate Director in overseeing the football program’s audio/video needs. This position will have an emphasis on over-seeing the post-production video needs of the football program in collaboration with the department of Football Creative Media. This position will also assist the Director of Football Video Operations with coaching video requests as necessary.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic arts, design, or related field (or international equivalent) or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Demonstrated experience (typically six months-one year) and knowledge of and ability to shoot football practices and games for coaching purposes.
  • Demonstrated experience (typically six months-one year) and knowledge of and ability to import and edit coaching video using Catapult Thunder (or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience (typically six months-one year) and knowledge of and ability to creatively shoot and edit production video in an athletics environment, including:

    • Produce and edit weekly motivational videos that are shown to the team on gameday.
    • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere.
